SGT History Makers | Rey Rasco

Rey Rasco

When Rey Rasco began his career in 1995 as an Applications Engineer specializing in UG CAD (now NX), iMAN PLM (now Teamcenter), and UNIX system administration, digital engineering looked very different than it does today.

Over the past 31 years, however, one thing has remained constant: a passion for technology and helping organizations get the most value from it.

Before joining Siemens, Rey worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines, where he supported engineering software and users across the organization. Rather than simply using the technology, he enjoyed helping others understand it, apply best practices, and solve complex challenges. That combination of technical expertise and customer support ultimately drew him to Siemens and set the foundation for a career that has spanned more than three decades.

One of the most significant moments in Rey's career came in 2007 when UGS was acquired by Siemens. As part of the Federal group at UGS, he transitioned into Siemens Government Services, becoming one of the early team members who helped introduce Siemens software capabilities into the federal government market. Looking back, he views that transition as a defining chapter in both his career and the evolution of the organization.

Today, Rey serves as part of SGT's Digital Solutions Services team, where he helps government customers leverage Siemens software as a foundation for digital transformation. Across the military and the broader Defense Industrial Base, organizations with national security missions rely on technologies such as product lifecycle management, digital twins, and advanced engineering platforms. Rey and his team play a vital role in deploying, implementing, and optimizing those solutions, ensuring customers can fully utilize the technology to achieve their objectives. "Our Services team deploys and implements the software, ensures it is working optimally, and helps users leverage it to drive their programs forward."

Over the years, Rey has witnessed firsthand how SGT has evolved. When he joined Siemens Government Services following the acquisition, the organization was still defining what its future would look like. Since then, he has seen the company expand its capabilities, strengthen its Digital Solutions offerings, and grow into a trusted partner supporting increasingly complex government missions.

"I saw the evolution of what Siemens Government Services was, where we introduced Siemens Software into the organization, to what SGT and our Digital Solutions group have become today," he reflects.

Being recognized as a History Maker is particularly meaningful because it reflects his role as part of the first wave of UGS employees who joined Siemens Government Services and helped lay the foundation for what SGT would become.

"I was drawn to the software and technology. What kept me here was the people—none better—and the ever-changing technology."

As SGT looks toward the future, Rey is excited by the company's position at the center of federal modernization efforts. Across defense, energy, and homeland security, agencies are accelerating digital transformation initiatives, strengthening cybersecurity, and modernizing critical infrastructure—and SGT is helping make that progress possible.

For the next generation of SGT employees, Rey offers simple but powerful advice: "Stay curious and keep learning as technology and customer needs evolve fast. Build relationships early and often. It's not just what you know—it's what you know and how you know your team and customer."
